Teen on horseback injured after being struck by vehicle, authorities say

CALUMET COUNTY (NBC 26) — A teen who was riding a horse was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle, according to the Calumet County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded at around 1:28 p.m. Friday to CTH HH near Meyer Rd for a vehicle that had stuck a horse and its rider.

The Sheriff's Office said the horse and rider were traveling eastbound on CTH HH and abruptly went into the roadway. The horse and rider were then struck by an oncoming westbound traveling vehicle.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the 16-year-old rider was flown by by ThedaStar to Theda Clark Medical Center in critical condition. The people in the vehicle were not hurt and the horse didn't show any initial signs of injury, the Sheriff's Office said.
