GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — A Green Bay record company is thanking a Taylor Swift fan for not walking away with a box full of CD's worth thousands after a UPS driver let her sign for the store.
The Exclusive Company in Green Bay said about 15 minutes before they opened up Saturday morning, a box was delivered. It was carrying 30 CD's personally signed by Taylor Swift, worth about $300 a piece.
"That's a down payment on a house for a first time home owner in Wisconsin," said store manager Tom Smith.
The fan, patiently waiting outside, said the driver asked "if she could be trusted with it," had her sign, and gave her the box. Smith said when they opened the doors at ten, the woman handed him the box saying, "Taylor Swift wouldn't want me to walk away with them."
"And also the number of fans of hers that are so happy now that they have an autographed CD by her. I told that to one of the fans 'You have this other fan to thank for having this CD here," Smith added.
Smith said he would have sent a heated email "or something like that" about the UPS driver for letting the fan sign, but said "I'm kind of going to just live and let live right now."
"I'm willing to bet that he might have seen the story and he probably feels really bad about it and I don't need to make his Monday any worse. I hate Mondays, and I'm against people who make other people's Mondays crappy."
Smith adds he thinks the positive vibes of Taylor Swift trickled down to her fans. The Exclusive Company sold the CD's for their regular price, $11.99.
