GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Police in Green Bay announced an arrest Wednesday for a shots fired incident that happened in May during a protest that police said turned into a riot.
The Green Bay Police Department said the shots fired incident occurred on May 31 , 2020, during the riot at East Walnut and South Monroe avenues. According to police, the incident began as a peaceful protest, but it later devolved into looting, vandalism, arson, burglary and shots being fired.
Police said that 27-year-old Leo M. Austin was arrested on November 15 after a lengthy investigation.
Green Bay Police said a multi-jurisdictional team working on this investigation has so far referred criminal charges on six adults and three juveniles, but the investigation is ongoing.
