MARINETTE COUNTY — A suspect wanted for multiple bank robberies in Wisconsin and Michigan earlier this summer will face federal charges, the Marinette County Sheriff announced in a news release Wednesday.

The Sheriff said one robbery was reported July 8th at the Stephenson National Bank & Trust in Pembine, in which a man robbed the bank at gunpoint and got away with some cash. An attempted bank robbery happened a few days before in Escanaba, Mich., involving a suspect with a similar description, according to the Sheriff's news release.

Another robbery was reported July 15th in Lake Hallie. Authorities chased after the suspect and arrested him. The Sheriff identified the suspect as 42-year-old Jason G. Burgett of Milwaukee.

The Sheriff said this case will be prosecuted federally by the U.S. Attorney from the Eastern District of Wisconsin's Milwaukee Office.
