SUAMICO (NBC 26) -- The Suamico Fire Department is using its fire engine to create a giant sprinkler for kids to enjoy.
The fire department announced this morning that it plans to turn on the "world's largest sprinkler" at 1:00 p.m. at Idlewild Park in Suamico.
The water will be sprayed as a light mist from the department's fire engine. People are encouraged to bring their swimsuits and towels and enjoy the water.
Fire Chief Joe Bertler said the department wanted to provide the kids with a way to cool off since many pools in the area are closed due to coronavirus.
People who attend this afternoon's event are encouraged to socially distance.
