STURGEON BAY (NBC 26) -- Sturgeon Bay is banning minors from buying vape products, according to an announcement Wednesday from Sturgeon Bay Police.
"The purpose of this ordinance is to protect the health and safety of any person under 18 years of age from possessing tobacco products and vapor products, and prohibiting the sale of tobacco and vapor products to minors," police state in a Facebook post.
Under the new ordinance, no one under the age of 18 will be allowed to buy or possess electronic smoking devices.
As of September 12, 2019 there are 35 cases of lung illness from vaping in Wisconsin, Sturgeon Bay Police said.
