OSHKOSH, Wis. (NBC 26) -- The Oshkosh Polar Plunge happens every year to raise funds and awareness for the Special Olympics Wisconsin.

More than 800 people are currently signed up, but organizers say they expect that to grow to more than 1000 the day of the event.

The fun all gets started Friday night with a kick off event. There will be a happy hour starting at 5:30 p.m. inside the Entertainment Tent with live music, drinks and food specials. At 6:30 p.m. the "Toss Your Boss/Corporate Hour," "Toss Your Teacher," "Plunge Your Principal," and the "Law Enforcement" plunge will all take place.

A 5K runs Saturday morning gets everyone warmed up before taking the plunge at 9 a.m. People can still sign up to plunge and benefit Special Olympics Wisconsin.
