GREEN BAY, Wis. — Bart Starr Jr. said that the Starr family is planning a 'celebration of life' in Green Bay.
The legendary Packers quarterback passed away this weekend at 85 years old.
Bart Jr. said his mother, Cherry, and the whole Starr family is eager to get back to Green Bay and show their appreciation to Packers fans.
He said that while Bart's passing brings sadness, it can't match the love and gratitude the family has for the area.
Bart Jr. said it was the Packers organization that gave his dad a chance, and it was a perfect fit. He said Bart came from humble beginnings, and his personal values matched the people of Green Bay.
Bart would become a Hall of Fame quarterback, but Bart Jr. said that his dad always wanted to talk more about the types of people who made up the city.
The family is currently making plans for a private funeral service in Alabama.
They hope to have a celebration of life in Green Bay planned in the next couple of weeks.
