APPLETON (NBC 26) -- St. Vincent de Paul Appleton is closing their physical donation center and is asking the community for monetary donations to help assist people impacted by the spread of COVID-19.
The organization anticipates an increase in requests for financial assistance over the next few months due to families feeling the economical burden caused by the coronavirus pandemic. They recognize their services are needed now more than ever due to families and individuals being thrust into situational poverty.
St. Vincent de Paul Appleton appreciates the donations of tangible goods, but the organization says due to recent studies on how long coronavirus living on surfaces, they are closing their donation center to prevent the spreading of illness.
The St. Vincent de Paul Appleton Thrift Store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. so they can continue selling items and provide free basic needs items to those who need it.
"We need the support of our community now more than ever!" reads the St. Vincent de Paul Appleton release. "If you are financially able, please consider making a donation to St. Vincent de Paul Appleton today."
