A news release from the Manitowoc County Sheriff says a 27-year-old man was killed in a crash on Friday.

Around 8 p.m. on May 3, the Sheriff's Office responded to the 21000 block of Point Creek Road in the Town of Schleswig for a report of a pickup truck that had crashed. The Sheriff's Office says a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was heading westbound on Point Creek Road when it left the road in a curve, entered the ditch, and hit a tree.

The Sheriff's Office identified the driver as 27-year-old Kevin Wirth from the Town of Meeme. According to the news release, Wirth was thrown from the truck during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff's Office believes speed is a contributing factor in the crash. The driver was also not wearing a seatbelt.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim in this incident," the news release states.
