MT. MORRIS, Wis. (NBC26) -- Wisconsin has already experienced its first snowfall in October and with temperatures beginning to linger and dip colder and colder that means this snow will be sticking around. It may not make everyone happy, but it can help some businesses get a head start on snow business.

Nordic Mountainis located within Waushara County in Mt. Morris.

Nordic Mountain opened in 1976 to serve skiers in central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley. In 2005, it was purchased by Rick Schmitz and over the past 12 seasons has been consistently upgraded. The upgrades include new runs; the addition of the tubing park in 2006 and massive snowmaking upgrades including a snowmaking pond, pump house, and snow guns; and numerous facility improvements.

Every year the crew gets out early to start making snow for the upcoming season, but this year due to the cold temps and already having some snow stick around they've started the snowmaking process earlier than usual.

Nordic Mountain always opens on what they call "White Friday" which is the day after Thanksgiving.
