MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — Deputies said they responded to a small fire in their office building around 6 a.m. Saturday.
The fire happened at the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office, located at 1025 South 9th Street.
Law enforcement said after some searching they found the fire was in an HVAC control panel on the second floor. The panel was in a mechanical room on the Administrative side of the building.
The Sheriff's Office commends the quick actions from its staff for using two portable fire extinguishers to quickly put out the fire.
"I want to assure the public that there was no risk to our jail or inmate population," said Sheriff Dan Hartwig.
