GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- As COVID-19 spreads throughout Wisconsin, local restaurants are having to reduce staff in-order to keep people safe as well as stay open.

"We have a staff of 40," said Theresa Barlement, the owner of The Pancake Place. "Never have I had to lay anybody off, but this week I had to lay off 35."

She only offers take out or delivery. No one is allowed to come sit down. Usually on a weekend, there is a line to get in. Today, barely anybody was in the store.

"We miss out customers," Barlement said. "They bring a smile to our faces, and it is really not the same."

Sales have also declined

"We are not seeing nearly as many orders. Only two people are in the kitchen," She said.

It is another sign of struggle during this virus spread. Barlement hopes to re-hire all the ones she layed off. However, she has to wait for the threat of the virus to be over.
