Sheboygan driver accused of hitting squad car in high-speed chase

MANITOWOC COUNTY (NBC 26) -- A Sheboygan man is in Manitowoc County Jail after authorities say he led them on a high-speed chase Tuesday.

It started around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office said a police officer saw a suspected drug transaction on the 900 block of Washington Street. Two people involved were seen leaving in a white Cheverolet Trailblazer.

The Sheriff's Office said the officer tried to stop the vehicle, but it drove off and a chase began. The Sheriff's Office said the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic multiple times during the pursuit. During the chase, authorities said the driver intentionally hit one of the squad cars.

The chase reached speeds of up to 105 mph. The Sheriff's Office said the driver also hit a parked vehicle during the chase. Officers pursuing the suspect used three PIT manuevers to try and stop the vehicle. The Sheriff's Office said no one was hurt.

Eventually, the suspects were taken into custody on the 1200 block of 28th Street in Sheboygan. The suspected driver was identified as 34-year-old Michael Bown from Sheboygan. He is currently in Manitowoc County Jail for OWI and other charges. His 60-year-old passenger was questioned and released.
