The City of Ripon Police Department Facebook page went live a little after noon today to discuss damage from last nights severe weather. It's an update to information given this morning at a separate press conference at 7:30 a.m. Ripon City Administrator Adam Sonntag and Community Liaison Officer/School Resource Officer Lindsey Michels led the update.

As of this morning, around 9,000 Alliant Energy customers were without power. While exact numbers were not given, Sonntag noted "some" power is restored throughout the city, but crews are still working today to bring all of it back, as the city is working directly with Alliant. He directed customers to the Alliant Outage Map to get further updates.

Sonntag reported the Department of Public Works is moving throughout the city to clear roads as quickly as possible. Though there are detours, officials said they hope to have everything open by this afternoon. Department of Public Works employees from Green Bay and Fond Du Lac joined to help speed up the process. For debris on personal property, Sonntag said city residents can bring brush and debris to the Compost Center free of charge.

For residents without power or water, the city is partnering with the American Red Cross to set up a re-charging station from noon to 6 p.m., free of charge at Ripon Middle School. The Ripon Public Library is open to for those in need of air conditioning.

Officier Michels said if anyone has questions to dial 211 on their phones, and keep up to date with information on the city's Facebook page and website.

The city plans to host another press conference at 4 p.m. Thursday.
