ASHWAUBENON, Wis (NBC 26) -- Just this week many retail businesses were given the green light to open up their shops to five customers at a time. But not every business has been given that privilege, including tattoo parlors, day spas and hair salons.
As of Wednesday morning, it's been 54 days since hair salons and barbershops were last open. And some salon owners say once they are given the go-ahead to open up shop once again, things will likely be much different for customers.
Sandra Kay Sims, the owner of Inspirations Hair Salon in Ashwaubenon says once she reopens she will be wearing both a protective face shield and a face mask to protect herself and her customers.
Sim says when customers arrive at her salon once again she will require them to wear a mask into her shop, put on a fresh one provided by her once inside, and also will require all customers to answer questions about their recent health so that she can help ensure everyone's safety.
On top of those soon to be requirements, Sim will also be taking her customer's temperature, and thoroughly disinfecting her salon in between every customer to try and prevent anyone from coming down with COVID-19 as a result of a trim.
"It ensures my clients that I am taking the precautions for them. In my business cleanliness and disinfection have been at the forefront from the very beginning."
Sims says customers should expect their trip to the barber or hair salon to look and feel much different, once establishments like hers are allowed to reopen for business.
