WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Last year many rummage sales across the area were halted as a result of the pandemic.
But as more people are getting vaccinated and feeling comfortable to be outside, many are looking to snag some deals.
For one woman in Bellevue, she said she last minute put together a rummage sale over the weekend. She said she has received a lot of foot traffic over the last few days.
“I’ve made over one thousand dollars yesterday and I’m on track to hopefully do the same today. It’s been very lucrative on my end,” said Alexis Anderson, Bellevue.
She explains some of the popular items people have been picking up:
“Toys, this time around has been toys. I’m not one to normally put, have a lot for selling but this year has been toys,” Anderson said.
She said she formerly ran a Poshmark closet and says this sale was a way to make some extra cash she had been missing on.
"I had inventory I had accumulated to resell that I was selling online. Obviously not doing that anymore so I decided to put everything out at low cost, close to what I pay for to kind of recoup my money," Anderson said.
Her 11-year-old daughter, Alison Zimmerman was very involved in helping her mom make this sale a success.
“I’ve helped her get stuff ready and priced it,” Zimmerman said. “So we have on this row shorts for women and pants and shorts for men. We also have some sunglasses here and a wallet,” Alison said.
"I've been feeling like wow I'm actually helping people out and making them happy about giving them stuff and helping them out," Alison said.
The family's rummage sale will continue this Thursday and Friday as they add more children items.
NBC 26 also stopped by a rummage sale in Ashwaubenon that was filled with children items.
However, for one rummage sale in De Pere the owner said he actually did not get much foot traffic at all.
The owner said all weekend they had about six people in total actually purchase items.
