GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — A group of protesters gathered in Green Bay Sunday afternoon as they joined others across the nation rallying for abortion rights.

“Not your uterus, not your choice,” protesters chanted.

"I'm a general practice OB-GYN doctor and I'm a proud abortion care provider,” said one of the speakers at the rally.

"Silence is our biggest enemy when it comes to this kind of thing. When we have something that we, the people are upset about we need to speak up and speak out,” said Adrianna Pokela, one of the organizers of this rally.

This protest comes after a leaked Supreme Court draft opinion revealed that the court could overturn Roe v Wade. If it is overturned, abortions in Wisconsin could become illegal.

"Our highest judicial court right now that is supposed to be the most impartial court in our entire nation is making one of the most partisan decisions that they could make. This is not about justice, this is not about being pro-life because if the Republicans were pro-life, we would have accessible healthcare,” said Hannah Beauchamp-Pope, one of the speakers at the rally.

However, Kathy Cain the local leader of 40 Days Life, a pro-life group disagrees.

"Abortion isn't healthcare. For an abortion to be successful an innocent human being must die,” Cain said. “Our premise is walking, praying, and fasting for an end for abortion."

As Cain continues to pray for the overturn, those attending the rally said they hope this protest shows the Supreme Court that Green Bay is watching and that they too want a say.

“SCOTUS, you pissed off the wrong generation and you should be terrified,” Pokela said.
