Sheboygan Police: Package not dangerous, roads reopened

UPDATE: A package that police had previously called suspicious was determined to be not dangerous.

Sheboygan Police said Milwaukee bomb squad assessed package and made the determination that it was not dangerous. Roads that had previously been closed are now reopened.

SHEBOYGAN (NBC 26) -- Police say roads near a Social Security Administration building are closed as officers investigate a suspicious package, police said Tuesday morning.

Just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, the Sheboygan Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious package left outside the Social Security Administration building on 1137 N. 26th Street.

Police said the package is suspicious in nature and placement. As a precautionary measure, a safety perimeter was established around the building. Police said the City of Milwaukee bomb squad was requested to assist with identified and/or removing the package.

According to Sheboygan Police, roads surrounding the west side of 1137 N. 26th St. have been closed. The closure includes Wilgus Ave between 25th St and 27th St., and N. 26th St. between Wilgus Ave. and Superior Ave.
