OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — They said they just purely wanted to help, and help they did. Solutions Recovery, Inc. in Oshkosh put together an online fund, so anyone can donate to help the family that lost so much. On Monday, a semi-truck struck their home, killing an 8-month-old.

"We were contacted by a member of the community, the day after the unfortunate events happened, and they were just looking for volunteers to help move some belongings, so we provided a few volunteers to do that," Trevor Fenrich said, the Executive Director for Solutions Recovery, Inc.

But they wanted to do more than just volunteer.

"There was a fake fundraiser that was posted on the internet, a scam or trying to take advantage of the situation, and it was just one of those things where it was not something that this family needed to worry about at that moment in time," Fenrich said.

So, Solutions Recovery is providing a safe way for people to donate, ensuring that 100% of the money raised will go to the family.

The Oshkosh non-profit is an addiction resource center, so the fundraising they usually do is for themselves.

"It's exactly what we envisioned when we put it together," Fenrich said. "We wanted the community to come together, and help stand by other members of the community that need our help the most."

Their goal is $100,000.

"We hope that the money can help this family start to rebuild what they lost…" Fenrich said. "We're hoping that the support that the community is showing and coming together will give them some hope."

Because in a time when hope seems lost, it's places like Solutions Recovery that can be a resource and bring the community together to help others.

"Being able to just be a small part, you know, and that it's not, this isn't why we're doing this…" Fenrich said. "We don't need people to know or want people to know, we want to raise awareness, so people know that there is help."
