APPLETON (NBC 26) -- Appleton's annual Octoberfest event is being "re-imagined" in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Organizers decided to plan alternate events that eliminate large crowds but still adhere to the event's mission of raising money for local nonprofits.

"The 100+ non-profits that have benefitted by Octoberfest over the last 39 years rely on us to have that stage that we set for them. And it just wouldn't have been prudent for our community because of all the good those non-profits do throughout the year. They need that money," said Eric Stadler, Chairman Of Appleton's Octoberfest Volunteer Committee.
