DODGE CO. (NBC 26) — Law enforcement reported a vehicle pursuit turned into a nearly 8-hour standoff Saturday night just after 8 p.m.
The Juneau Police Department said its officers were pursuing a 2002 Chevrolet Envoy that was traveling westbound on County W. The Dodge County Sheriff's Office joined the pursuit.
According to the police report, the vehicle left the roadway shortly after leaving the City of Juneau. As the vehicle re-entered the highway it hit a squad car, then continued on Highway W to the City of Beaver Dam.
Deputies said they tried to stop the vehicle in Beaver Dam. The vehicle crashed into a Juneau police squad car as well as a Dodge Co. Sheriff's Office squad car, causing disabling damage to both.
Police reported the vehicle fled again eastbound on County W before it ran off the roadway, just west of Crystal Lake Road.
The two Police Departments and Sheriff's Office said a perimeter was set up around the car after it was learned that the driver was armed with a firearm.
The Dodge Co. Sheriff's Office said the SWAT team was deployed with an armored vehicle. The Fond du Lac Co. Sheriff's Office armored vehicle was also requested.
Deputies said negotiations with the Envoy driver took nearly eight hours in the hopes of a peaceful resolution.
Law enforcement said the suspect was taken into custody at 4:05 a.m. No one was injured.
Police identified the suspect as a 25-year-old Oshkosh man. He was taken to the hospital as a precaution then will be staying at the Dodge Co. Detention Facility where he will be facing multiple charges stemming from this incident.
The Juneau police said this is an ongoing investigation with the help of the Dodge Co. Sheriff's Office.
