GRAND CHUTE, Wis — With the busiest shopping day of the year just around the corner, local police are reminding folks to keep their gifts and their personal information safe during the mayhem of shopping.

The Grand Chute Police Department is reminding the public tonight that all gifts should be stored in your trunks only temporarily after shopping, so that they stay out of sight from thieves. Police add that folks should practice carrying their wallets in their front pockets as well, as thousands of shoppers cram into stores on Black Friday. Police add that those with purses should be extra vigilant as well.

"Keep your eye on your purse. The purse should always be worn across your body. If you are storing your purse on the top part or your shopping cart, we don't recommend it, but never take your eyes off that purse," says Officer Travis Waas with the Grand Chute Police Department.

Police say following your shopping trips it's also a good idea to check your credit card statements just to make sure that your card wasn't compromised, during the chaos of shopping on Black Friday.
