GREEN BAY (WGBA) -- Green Bay Police are searching for a man who went missing the same morning a man fell into the ice on the East River.

It is unclear if the events are related, but the time and location of both incidents creates some similarities.

"We are trying to rule out everything," said Kevin Warych from the Green Bay Police Department. "We don't want to report on assumptions. We are following up on both."

On February 8th, Jeffrey Maldonado performed at Club 920 on Main Street. Police say he left in a Uber bound for downtown. Down the street at the corner of Roosevelt Ave. and Main St. police say a man fell in the ice on the East River. Neither Maldonado nor the man who fell in the river have been found.

"We are working on this case trying to put the facts together at this point to understand where he was last scene," Warych said. "As far as the river we can't connect both incidents at this point."

Police said they sent submersible ROV to find someone at the bottom of the river, and were unable to find anything. Warych said they cannot send a dive team in the river, because it is currently not safe.

"Due to the Ice conditions, due to the current in the east river, it is unsafe to put divers in the east river at this time," Warych said. "We are in a holding pattern until we can do that."
