ASHWAUBENON — UPDATE: Police say Leonel Vasquez Mesa has turned himself in and is currently in custody at Ashwaubenon Public Safety.

Ashwaubenon Police are searching for a man they say is armed and dangerous.

Police are looking for 20-year-old Leonel Vasquez-Meza, a Green Bay man suspected to be a part of a shooting that happened last week at the Microtel Hotel in Ashwaubenon. On June 13, police say a 20-year-old Green Bay man was shot at the hotel. He survived the shooting and has been released from the hospital.

Police say Ashwaubenon investigators, with the assistance of Green Bay Police, arrested some of the suspected shooting accomplices on Wednesday. Police arrested 19-year-old Juan Carlos Romero-Ahumada during a "high-risk traffic stop," police say in a news release. Romero-Ahumada was taken to Brown County Jail and faces possible charges of attempted first degree intentional homicide as a party to the crime, aggravated battery as party to the crime, armed robbery and theft.

Green Bay SWAT team was used Wednesday afternoon to execute a search warrant at Romero-Ahumada's home on 1000 block of Newtols Street. At that time, police say they had two people in custody, but one other person did get away.

Authorities then issued a news release Thursday announcing a search for Vasquez-Meza. He is described as 5’8” tall, 138 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone who sees Vasquez-Meza is asked to call 911.
