OSHKOSH (NBC 26) -- Oshkosh Police have identified a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a retired police captain.
Police announced Thursday that Ian L. Suzuki, a 28 year old man from Oshkosh, has been formally charged by the Winnebago County District Attorney’s Office for First Degree Intentional Homicide and Misdemeanor Battery, Domestic Abuse Assessment.
A homicide was reported Sunday night on the 1200 block of Waugoo Avenue. The department says it happened around 4 p.m. when officers heard of a disturbance with a weapon.
They say Jay Puestohl suffered a stab wound. He was taken to the hospital and later died. A woman sustained minor injuries.
Police said Puestohl retired from the Oshkosh Police Department as the Captain of the Investigative Services Bureau in 2008, after 32 years with the Oshkosh Police Department.
Police are calling the stabbing an isolated incident. All three knew each other.
