Manitowoc Police asked for help Monday night to find a dog that bit a woman, according to a news release.

The 37-year-old woman was walking with her two children and spotted the dog "running back and forth across the street. As she was telling her children to walk the other direction, the dog chased after them. The female tried to get between the dog and her children and the dog bit her on her left calf," according to police.

The incident happened Monday at about 3:30 p.m. on Division Street near South 26th Street, police said.

The dog was described as "a small to medium sized brown and white dog (approximately 5-10 lbs.) with white curly hair. The female victim believed the dog was wearing a collar but could not provide a better description," the news release said.

Anyone who has information about the situation is asked to call Manitowoc Police at (920) 686-6500 or Crime Stoppers at (920) 683-4466. Callers may remain anonymous.
