Manitowoc Police asked for help Tuesday night after a dog bit a woman, according to a news release. Police want to find the dog's owner.

A "large black and brown dog," possibly a German Shepherd, bit a 36-year-old woman in her calf Tuesday at approximately 7:30 p.m. along the 900 block of S. 13th. St., according to police.

The woman was looking for her dog, and as "her dog came to her, it was being followed by the large black and brown dog," police said.

The woman tried to pick up her dog to protect it, and the large dog bit her leg, police said. The woman reported the situation once she arrived back at her home.

Anyone with information is asked to call Manitowoc Police at (920) 686-6500 or Crime Stoppers at (920) 683-4466. Callers may remain anonymous.
