Police: 13-year-old Manitowoc boy arrested for armed robbery

MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — Police said a 13-year-old boy was found with a gun when he was arrested for multiple armed or attempted armed robberies and burglaries.

The investigation began Monday at about 3:30 p.m. when Manitowoc Police responded to a report of an armed robbery that had just happened at a business in the 700 block of N. 11th St. Police said the suspect entered the business, demanded cash, and displayed a firearm. The victim gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and the suspect ran off. Police got a description of the suspect and began searching.

On Tuesday at about 8:45 a.m., Manitowoc Police said officers were called to a business located in the 900 block of N. 8th St. for a report of an attempted burglary. Police said the suspect was unable to enter the building, however, did cause damage to the building. The suspect was captured on video and matched the suspect from the video of the armed robbery the previous day.

On the same day at about 12:05 p.m., Manitowoc Police said officers responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at the same business located in the 900 block of N. 8th St. Police said the suspect entered the business, demanded cash, and displayed a firearm. The victim did not give any cash to the suspect and began calling the police. The suspect ran off, police said.

Officers found the suspect in the 800 block of N. 9th St. and he was taken into custody wearing the same clothing as the previously mentioned two cases. Police said a .45 caliber handgun was found on his person.

Police identified the suspect as a 13-year-old Manitowoc boy. Charges referred against the youth include Armed Robbery, Attempted Armed Robbery, Attempted Burglary, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Criminal Damage to Property, and other weapon-related offenses. Police said the youth was transported to the Sheboygan County Juvenile Detention Center.
