BELLEVUE, Wis. (NBC 26) -- People usually try to ditch some of their bad habits at the beginning of a new year.

Plae Bistro in Bellevue is helping out folks looking to make it a dry January.

It means starting off 2021 with a break from alcohol. It's been a trend over the past couple of years.

The bar inside Plae Bistro is getting on board.

"The beginning of the year is kind of a reset, especially after the year we've had in 2020," said Pamela Dreikosen, the bar manager at Plae Bistro.

They are rolling out a set of new mocktails to help people with their goals.

"I'm in my younger 20s so that's what a lot of my friends are doing right now," explains Lauren Reidinger, the Marketing Director at Plae Bistro. "Let's try something new this year."

Lauren is trying out a dry January as a way to connect with customers looking for non-alcoholic options.

"I feel better," said Reidinger. "It feels nice not having a hangover every Sunday."

You can find mocktails listed right on the main menu. They're rolling out a special page of their cocktail menu that will include all of their new mocktails.

They have options like NA wine and gin that make drinks taste like they have real alcohol.

"They're looking for a fresh effervescent something that tastes similar to a cocktail that you would have at the end of a really long week," said Dreikosen.

Ingredients are muddled with fresh fruits, simple syrups or purees made fresh in house.

The cost is comparable to a real cocktail and in some cases may be cheaper.

"It's to feel like they can go out and be social and not have to drink," said Dreikosen.

It's the perfect option for folks looking to feel fancy and fine without the fuzzy after-effects.
