GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- The Facebook page for the Green Bay Police Department posted a warning of a new phone scam trying to get people's social security numbers.
In the Facebook post from Wednesday, the Green Bay Police state they have been receiving reports of someone "spoofing" the department's front desk number. The scammer then pretends to be "Officer Gary Anderson" who is searching for people who may have been victims of a social security number fraud case.
The Green Bay Police state they do not have any officers with the last name of Anderson on the team and those receiving calls should never give personal information over the phone.
