MILWAUKEE -- Keep an eye out for the "3rd Hour of TODAY" Wednesday for a special report about a Pewaukee father.

For 17 years, he's gone to Ascension St. Josephs NICU, dressed as a special someone.

Taking a picture of Santa with his newborn son, meant the word to father Greg Phelps. For years he's gone back to the same NICU, dressing up for families as Old Saint Nick.

He opens up to families about how he was once in their shoes during Christmas. His son was born in 1998, three months early.

"This week 21 years ago, we were told by a [doctor] that Kyle would likely not live through the week," said Phelps.

His 6 ft. 1 in. tall son is now a junior in college.

He hopes his story will be shared across the country on the TODAY Show Wednesday morning to inspire others to give back to their own community.
