DE PERE (NBC 26) -- A person at Heritage Elementary has tested positive for COVID-19, the De Pere School District said in a statement to families.

In a letter to parents issued Tuesday, the school district said the individual who has tested positive for COVID-19 is quarantined. All of the students and staff in direct contact will be quarantined for at least 14 days.

If a student was in direct contact, families will receive a separate letter from the school district with quarantine and follow up instructions. Families may also be directly contacted by the De Pere Health Department.

The school district says it will not reach out to people who were not in direct contact.

Classes for students at Heritage who were not in direct contact will resume Wednesday morning, the school district says.
