BROWN COUNTY, Wis. — A group of people had to be rescued while fishing on the ice in Brown County. Another person was rescued from the ice in Door County.
DNR officials confirm 15 people were rescued from the ice on the Bay of Green Bay in both Brown and Door Counties. DNR says in one incident, the ice broke off from shore leaving the ice fishermen stranded. Wind conditions were blamed for the ice breaking. Multiple agencies including the DNR, Brown County Sheriff’s Department, Brussels Fire Department and US Coast Guard all had active involvement in the rescues.
