GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — The Packers were counting on fans to bring the energy and excitement back to Lambeau field Saturday night.

“They’re going to win no doubt, of course they have to win", said Zachary Peterson, a fan excited to return back.

And they did win, the green and gold are moving on.

“Pretty excited, pretty sweet to be here especially with everything going on, play-off game,” said another fan, Alex Limba.

Fans were excited to cheer on the boys as for the first time all season a total of nearly 9,000 people were allowed inside.

6,500 were season ticket holders and the rest were front line workers along with other staff.

Those cheering on hoping their energy and excitement would feed off to the players.

“Just a super awesome opportunity that they allowed fans," said Zachary Westenberg.

“First time this year, incredible experience. It had been over two years. It’s one of those homecoming things you will never forget", said Peterson.

For one Sherwood woman, having fans back in the stadium meant funds from concession stands would go towards purchasing new laptops for her students.

“It was awful, my heart is here. This is our 12th year raising money for the schools. It was hard we really really wanted to be here, it's not the same sitting at home watching the game", said Katie Kestler, St. John's Sacred Heart Sherwood.

Next stop, the Packers get to host the NFC championships, meaning some lucky fans will have the chance to return next week.

“Super Bowl here we come!” Westenberg said.
