DE PERE (NBC 26) -- The owner of a local, award-winning bakery is battling multiple health issues.

A local lawmaker, John Macco, Representative for Wisconsin's 88th Assembly District, posted to social media this weekend asking people to keep the owner of Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe in their prayers.

Macco wrote in a Facebook post that the owner, Mike Vande Walle, is "fighting multiply severe health issues."

According to Macco, Mary Vande Walle is running the stores on her own while Mike has been dealing with health issues in the ICU.

NBC 26 called the De Pere shop and an employee who answered the phone confirmed that Mike is battling health issues, but declined to comment further. When asked if there was anything the community could do to help, the employee answered: "Pray."

Uncle Mike's Bake Shoppe has locations in Green Bay, De Pere and Suamico. The business has won multiple awards, including a 2018 "Coolest Thing Made in Wisconsin" award for its kringle.
