OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — Oshkosh school administrators including Superintendent Cartwright held a listening session for Oshkosh parents and students that are pushing for a return to in-person instruction next semester.

Because of open meetings laws of notice, school board members are not present at this meeting because they cannot engage in a dialogue on the issue, according to school board President Barbara Herzog. For that reason, the listening session was hosted by district administrators to be a two-way discussion.

President Herzog released a statement to NBC 26:

The Listening Session today at Carl Traeger School is an opportunity for parents to ask questions and to have a dialogue with district administrative leaders in keeping with Board policy and past practice. The Board and Administration value respectful input from parents, students, and the community as we seek to emphasize the safety of our students and staff in looking to return to in-person learning. We know that we can provide continuity of services and address the academic, social, and emotional needs of our students when students and staff are present in our schools. Safety of our students, their families, our staff, and community is our top priority.

We'll have updates at this situation continues.
