Oshkosh Police: Officer choked while arresting suspect

OSHKOSH (NBC 26) -- Oshkosh Police said an officer was injured while taking a suspect into custody Tuesday morning.

At around 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, police said officers were investigating a complaint in the 1800 block of Robin Avenue. Police said officers received information that a man was trying to enter an apartment that was not his address.

After arriving at the scene, officers tried to take a 29-year-old man from Milwaukee into custody. Police said the man fought with officers and choked one of them. According to police, the officer who was choked was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The 29-year-old man was taken into custody for battery to law enforcement officer, resisting/obstructing officers, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and a probation/parole hold.
