OSHKOSH (NBC 26) — Following an FBI investigation titled Operation Kick Boxer, an Oshkosh man was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison for distribution of child pornography.
Law enforcement identified the man as 51-year-old Martin E. McKeever. He was a longtime youth hockey and lacrosse coach who possessed and distributed numerous digital images and videos of child pornography, according to authorities.
Operation Kick Boxer was a collaborative effort involving the Milwaukee Division of the FBI, the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, and the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office.
According to court records, Senior United States District Judge William C. Griesbach noted the serious nature of the charge and the need for just punishment. Following his release from prison, McKeever will spend five years on supervised release. McKeever will also be required to register as a sexual offender.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse that launched in May 2006. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children as well as to identify and rescue victims.
