Oshkosh bicyclist killed after being hit by a train

OSHKOSH, Wis (NBC 26) -- An Oshkosh man is killed after being struck by a train.

Just before 4:30 Tuesday night, officers were called to the area of Washington Avenue in Oshkosh for reports of a man who had been riding a bicycle eastbound when he was struck by a northbound train.

According to Oshkosh police, the 69-year-old Oshkosh man suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance. The man later died from his injuries.

Several intersections in the area of south New York Avenue were closed for several hours.

The victim's name has not yet been released.

The crash is still under investigation.
