GREEN BAY (NBC 26) -- Bells rang out in honor of equality Wednesday in downtown Green Bay.
The League of Women's Voters, the Historical Society and others gathered to celebrate the centennial celebration of the ratification of the 19th amendment that gave women the right to vote.
A diverse group of speakers addressed the crowd.
"I'm here to emphasize the value of young voters. Especially in our Latino community. Your voice has meaning. Your voice has worth. Your vote IS your voice. Vale su Voz,” said Jessica Quintana, the Community Programs Coordinator For The Oneida Community Education Center.
The 19th amendment was ratified on August 18th, 1920 and certified later that month on this day 100 years ago.
