One sent to hospital from Oneida officer involved shooting

ONEIDA (NBC 26) — UPDATE: Names of the people involved in the incident have been released.

The DOJ says the subject, Carl J. King, age 30 of Oneida, continues to be treated for injuries and is in stable condition.

The involved officer, Dakota Oskey has worked for Oneida Tribal Police Department for more than one year. He has been placed on administrative leave per department policy.

Law enforcement said an investigation is underway for a shooting involving an Oneida officer Sunday around 1:30 a.m.

According to police, Oneida Tribal Department Dispatch workers saw a person drive their vehicle into the parking lot of the police department. They said the person exited the vehicle and was acting erratically. An Oneida Tribal officer was requested to return to the police department to investigate.

Law enforcement said when the officer arrived at the parking lot, gunfire was exchanged and the person ended up being hit. The person was then taken to the hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

Police said the officer was not hurt and no other individuals were injured during the incident.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) said it was investigating the officer involved shooting in Oneida.

According to the DCI, several other law enforcement agencies are helping in the investigation. Including the Brown County Sheriff's Office, Hobart-Lawrence Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the DOJ Office of Crime Victim Services.

This is an ongoing investigation. No further information has been released at this time.
