One dead, 6 injured in Waupaca County two-vehicle crash

TOWN OF LARRABEE (NBC 26) -- A 72-year-old Clintonville man is dead and six other people injured following a two vehicle crash at 7:54 p.m. Thursday in Waupaca County.

Through investigation and witness statements, it was determined a passenger car driven by the 72-year-old Clintonville man had stopped on Neitzke Road in the town of Larrabee and then traveled onto Highway 45 into the path of a northbound van, driven by a 69-year-old Birnamwood woman, according to the Waupaca County Sheriffs Office. The six occupants of the van were transported to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, while the 72-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Names of the victims are not being released at this time as the crash remains under investigation.

The Waupaca County Sheriffs Office was assisted by Clintonville police and fire departments, Marion Police, Clintonville Area Ambulance, Marion First Responders, Wisconsin State Patrol, Waupaca County Medical Examiner and Waupaca County Highway Department.
