An Oconto family is being recognized across the state for their hard work and dedication in agriculture.

Laura and Philip Finger of Oconto were awarded the 67th Wisconsin Outstanding Young Farmer Award. They were chosen among 6 finalists across the state.

The honor is something they say they were not expecting and are looking forward to engaging even more with the community.

“We stopped and were like, ‘no way!’” said Philip. “It was very overwhelming and very emotional.”

“We really want to participate with our AG community, but also the public and our community,” said Laura. “And we want to change a few stereotypes about farming and about what our AG industry is like, not only in Wisconsin as a nation.

Philip and Laura are 5th generation farmers.
