FOX VALLEY REGION (NBC 26) — Nominations close Friday, Feb. 5 for this year's Celebrating Volunteers awards! These awards celebrate the people in the Fox Valley region who go above and beyond to help make the community a better place.
NBC 26 is proud to partner with the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region on this. There are six awards that people can be nominated for each recipient will receive $5,000 to give to a local nonprofit organization and the youth winner will receive a $1,500 scholarship and $1,000 to donate to a nonprofit of his or her choice.
"I think it's a great way to think about people that have been long-time volunteers or have done something special from a volunteering perspective in the last year or couple of years," said Tammy Geenen with Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. "I would say don't feel like because there really wasn't a lot of volunteer opportunities and I don't feel like i should get an award, I think to look broader at volunteer history is a great way to honor someone for some outstanding work that they've done."
Geenen said filling out a nomination is simple and only takes about 20-30 minutes.
