DE PERE — A ceremony was held this morning at the VFW park in De Pere to honor all past, present, and future uniformed service members.
During the event, the 132nd Army Band of the Wisconsin National Guard performed patriotic songs including the Armed Forces Medley.
The ceremony included speeches from De Pere mayor James Boyd and state senator Andre Jacque.
Boyd's speech highlighted the various developments at the VFW in honor of the service of those in the military. "What surrounds us here are the undeniable blessings of our freedoms," said Boyd.
On two sides of the monument are the logos of the United States Marines, United States Space Force, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the U.S. Public Health Service.
These organizations were highlighted for their critical combat support roles.
