APPLETON — School Board members approved a plan that would not fine families who have students missing more than 5 days a semester.
Over the last couple months, the appointed Truancy Task Force has come up with three different options: one is a “no court” option, another is a referral to family services, and the third is a referral plus a fine.
On Monday night, the school board evaluated those options and decided with the second option. Students who go through truancy will get a referral to a social worker.
