GREEN BAY (NBC 26) — In Green Bay, the New Leaf Garden Blitz is underway. The non-profit organization plans to build and install 75 raised bed gardens in the community.

This year they are specifically focusing on installing gardens for organizations that empower black and indigenous communities, as well as people living with disabilities.

Right now, they are offering a limited supply of 8-foot by 4-foot garden boxes for $199, which includes soil, delivery, and set up. If you're new to gardening, they're ready to help.

"If you want to apply to have a garden mentor, somebody will work with you and guide you. There will be an experienced gardener who can make sure that you are successful. Those must be in by April 15th," explained Xavier Horkman, a New Leaf Garden Blitz volunteer.

The garden boxes will be installed over the course of the weekend of May 20th to the 23rd.
