The Racine County Sheriff's Office says Troy Hoffmann has been taken into custody. Authorities say Hoffmann turned himself in at the Village of Hustisford Police Department and was taken to the Dodge County Jail.
PREVIOUS STORY: Next to Duane Sleaper’s home on West Loomis Road in the Town of Wind Lake, crime scene tape and his neighbors house blocked off as authorities investigate what happened there Thursday evening.
According to the Racine County Sheriffs Office, they received multiple shots fired calls around 6:30 p.m. Duane said he heard the gunfire and feared for his life.
“I hit the floor, crawled up to the door to lock the front door and I look through the blinds of the front door, I see a woman running up the driveway. I see a guy shoot at her,” said Duane.
Deputies said 40-year-old Troy Hoffman is the man responsible for the shooting. Investigators said he arrived at the home in an aggressive manner, smashed into a parked car then fired multiple rounds at the house. He then forced his way into the home and fired more rounds hitting a 40-year-old victim. The victim was taken to the hospital and did not survive.
Duane said the family has lived in the home for about four years, and today his heart breaks for them.
“I feel bad for the family because they are really good people,” said Duane.
Hoffmann fled the scene and was last seen traveling eastbound on West Loomis road in a 2009 White Toyota Sienna with a Wisconsin License plate of AFV9734.
Authorities said if you see Hoffmann do not approach him and call 911 because he is considered armed and dangerous.
