MANITOWOC (NBC 26) -- Lakeshore Humane Society says they're in need of donations to help with their long-term care of a severely neglected dog, as well as other animals.
The animal shelter, located in Manitowoc, shared pictures of a dog named Scooby on their Facebook page this week. The dog's ribs are showing in the pictures, which Lakeshore Humane Society says were taken October 8th.
According to the shelter, Scooby came from a neglectful household. He then apparently went to a different household that offered to take care of him, but he was later returned to the original home where he was allegedly neglected. Lakeshore Humane Society says police then seized Scooby from the home after a call from concerned neighbors.
A staffer at Lakeshore Humane Society tells NBC 26 that they are working with police on Scooby's case.
While many people have come forward to volunteer as a foster family for Scooby, Lakeshore Humane Society says what they really need are donations. Scooby faces a great deal of medical expenses to help him recover.
Scooby is recovering, the Lakeshore Humane Society says. He has gained weight and seems happier. Click here to learn how you can help Scooby and other animals at the shelter.
